How do I become a member of Lynn Haven UMC?
A) You can join the church by declaring your intention by filling out the Decision Guide in the Worship guide on Sunday or contact Wanda MacDonald, Director of Outreach, to make arrangements or completing the form at the bottom of the page. Because many people are more comfortable joining the church as part of a group, we schedule one Sunday per month to receive new members. However, if you are unable to join that Sunday we will make arrangements on another Sunday. Also, if you are uncomfortable standing in front of a large congregation (it can be intimidating for some) we will make arrangements for your reception of membership to be in a smaller sedtting. If you have further questions, please contact the church office to speak with someone or to register for the next session of our Starting Point Class.
Q) When should I become a member?
A) This answer is different for every person. Some are ready to place their membership after only a few visits. Others require more time to explore the teachings, beliefs, and expectations of the church. However, if you faithfully attend, have entered into a relationship with Jesus Christ, and are ready to consider Lynn Haven UMC your church home, then you may be ready now to place your membership with the our church family.
Q) Are there any requirements for membership at Lynn Haven UMC?
A) Yes. To become a member at Lynn haven UMC you must have surrendered your life to follow Jesus Christ. This means that you have accepted Him as your Savior, and you are following Him as the Lord of your life.
Q) What is expected of me as a member?
A) Church membership is valuable to both the member and the church, and both have certain responsibilities that accompany the membership commitment. Through membership, the church is committing to the spiritual care and development of the member and the member is committing to personal growth and participation in the life and mission of the church. These biblical expectations are clearly defined at our Starting Point Class held several times a year. Contact the church office or watch the weekend worship guide for upcoming Starting Point Class dates and times.
Q) If I have already received Christ and have been baptized by immersion in another church, will I have to be baptized again to be a member of Lynn Haven UMC?
A) No. We believe that you are baptized into God’s family and not a particular church. If you have questions, we would be happy to discuss them with you.
If you are ready to become a member or have further questions, please complete the following information. You will be contacted by our new member staff as soon as possible.
