Leadership Track

An opportunity for everyone to pursue and promote Spiritual Greatness

What is the Leadership Track?

It is an opportunity to learn about Christian Faith on a deeper level than is available in other church venues. Different courses explore the Bible, theology, ministry, leadership, evangelism, apologetics, ethics, Christian history and how our faith relates to cultural issues.

Who is the Leadership Track for?

It is designed for anyone that wants to explore their

faith more deeply or serve as a leader in a number of

ministries in the church.

The LT is designed to equip non-experts to do ministry in the church or to better communicate the Christian faith in the surrounding culture. Most participants are, or are becoming, ministry leaders in the church; but others are seeking help leading in a distinctly Christian way outside the formal ministries of the church.

Why does the Leadership Track exist?

Some reasons are self-explanatory. We obviously want to train people to do ministry, and to help people grow in their faith. But this needs to be understood in the context of the kind of church Lynn Haven UMC is. Lynn Haven UMC is an outreach oriented church. We design our church services and ministries to be understood by people who know virtually nothing about Christian Faith and are wholly Biblically illiterate.

This orientation causes us to reach new people, but it can also cause our quest for breadth to overwhelm the need for people to grow deeper in their faith. If there is no mechanism for people to grow deeper in their faith, the church will lack the leaders it needs to reach people and those who have been at the church for 2 years or longer will either stop growing as fairly ‘shallow’ Christians or become dissatisfied with their faith and bored with the church community.

How Can I Get Involved?

Simply watch the newsletter and bulletin for LT courses. Most meet on Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, Sunday evenings, are special lectures or in the form of conferences and retreats. Most LT classes are also recorded and are made available in audio formats.

There are also resources made available through the LT in the LHUMC library. The library is in the office of the church and includes Biblical commentaries, Systematic Theologies, recommended books and audio resources.
